Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese wushu artist Hoang Thi Phuong Giang won a bronze medal in women’s changquan event on August 22 at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia.
With 9.71 points, Giang came after Li Yi from Macau (China) and Qi Xinyi of China respectively.
ASIAD 2018 is not a successful game for Vietnamese wushu artists as Duong Thuy Vi and Pham Quoc Khanh only brought home a bronze and a silver medal.
At ASIAD 2014 in the Republic of Korea, Vi won a gold medal, which was the only gold of the Vietnamese delegation at the games.
Also on August 22, cyclist Nguyen Thi That had an unsuccessful day as she came fifth in the women’s 100km individual road race, while her fellow cyclist Nguyen Thi Thi finished at 11th position. The winner, Na Ahreum of the Republic of Korea, showed impressive performance as she completed the road in only 2:55:47.
That is a golden hope of Vietnam as she was the winner of the Asian Road and Para Cycling Championship in Myanmar in February. One month later, she also came first at the Grand Prix of Crevoisier 2018 in Les Genevez, Switzerland. In July 2018, That was listed as the Asian cyclist with highest ranking at 34th position with 393 points.
As of 2pm of August 22, Vietnam ranked 17th on the medal tally with three silver and six bronze medals.-VNA
