ASIAD 2018: Vietnamese wushu artist wins bronze, cyclist unsuccessful

Vietnamese wushu artist Hoang Thi Phuong Giang won a bronze medal in women’s changquan event on August 22 at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia.

Hanoi (VNA)– Vietnamese wushu artist Hoang Thi Phuong Giang won a bronze medal in women’s changquanevent on August 22 at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia.

With 9.71 points,Giang came after Li Yi from Macau (China) and Qi Xinyi of China respectively.

ASIAD 2018 is not asuccessful game for Vietnamese wushu artists as Duong Thuy Vi and Pham QuocKhanh only brought home a bronze and a silver medal.

At ASIAD 2014 in theRepublic of Korea, Vi won a gold medal, which was the only gold of theVietnamese delegation at the games.

Also on August 22, cyclistNguyen Thi That had an unsuccessful day as she came fifth in the women’s 100kmindividual road race, while her fellow cyclist Nguyen Thi Thi finished at 11th position. The winner, Na Ahreum of the Republic of Korea, showed impressiveperformance as she completed the road in only 2:55:47.

That is a golden hopeof Vietnam as she was the winner of the Asian Road and Para CyclingChampionship in Myanmar in February. One month later, she also came first at theGrand Prix of Crevoisier 2018 in Les Genevez, Switzerland. In July 2018, Thatwas listed as the Asian cyclist with highest ranking at 34th position with 393 points.

As of 2pm of August22, Vietnam ranked 17th on the medal tally with three silver and sixbronze medals.-VNA
