Thai police on April 7 reported 22 attacks, including at least five small bomb blasts, in Muslim-majority southern Thailand. There was neither immediate claim of responsibility nor reports of casualties.
The incidents aim to create disturbances, ruin the government's credibility and create fear among people, said Pramote Prom-in, spokesperson of local security forces.
Earlier, on April 6, King Vajiralongkorn-Rama X signed into law the Constitution 2017, the 20th of its kind since the end of absolute monarchy in 1932. It was an essential step towards an election the ruling junta has promised to restore democracy in the Southeast Asian country.
The constitution was approved by 61.4 percent of voters in a referendum held in August last year.-VNA
