Australia helps underprivileged people

Australia is expected to approve an aid programme for a number of projects to improve the quality of life of underprivileged people in northern Vietnam.
Australia is expected to approve an aid programme for a number ofprojects to improve the quality of life of underprivileged people innorthern Vietnam.

Small projects benefitedfrom the 2013-2014 Direct Aid Programme focus on poverty reduction,education, health care, and environmental improvement, among others,said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman.

The aid programme is available for individuals, community groups,NGOs, research institutes, libraries, museums and other entitiesinvolved in development activities in Vietnam , on a not-for-profitbasis.

The Australian government plans to offeraround 159.1 million AUD to Vietnam through the official developmentassistance in the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

As many as12 projects in 11 cities and provinces have received assistance fromthe Australian Embassy during the 2012-2013 period. They are Ha Tinh,Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Bac Kan, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho,Quang Binh, Son La and Quang Tri.
