Ban flower festival 2019 kicks off in Son La

The Ban Flower Festival 2019 – the popular spring flower festival of the north and northwestern regions, kicked off in the northwestern mountainous province of Son La on March 15.

Son La (VNA) - The Ban Flower Festival 2019 – the popular spring flower festival ofthe north and northwestern regions, kicked off in the northwestern mountainousprovince of Son La on March 15.

The annual event,named after the most beautiful flower in the region, ban flower (scientificallyknown as Bauhinia Variegata), aims to honour and preserve values of the localculture while combining cultural preservation with tapping tourism potential.

A highlight ofthe three-day event is a music show with hundreds of professional and amateurartists taking part.

A cultural campcompetition, display of local signature products, and folk games will also beheld.

The event affordsthe province a chance to popularise its nature, history and culture to domesticand foreign visitors.-VNA

At the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, delegates visited the Doan Mon Gate and learnt about the formation and development of the ancient capital through different historical periods at display spaces.
