(Photo: VNA) At the recent first meeting of the sub-committee on personnel affairs of the 14th National Party Congress, the leader delivered a speech on some issues requiring special attention in the preparation of personnel for the coming congress.
Le Van Thien, who has 41-year Party membership and former Director of the Binh Duong Centre of Continuing Education, voiced his support for the viewpoint of putting the Fatherland above all.
He perceived that personnel preparations need to be carried out carefully, especially in selecting persons holding the revolutionary ideal along with sufficient capacity and morality.
Thien regretted that there remain undeserving officials in the Party Central Committee of the 2020 - 2025 tenure who have affected the Party’s reputation and people’s trust.
He said he believes in the new tenure, persons loyal to the Party, the country, and national interests will be chosen.
Those in the Party Central Committee must put people’s interests above all, be faithful to the Party’s principles and goals, seriously adhere to the Party’s regulations and policies, and never go against people’s trust, he added.
Echoing the view, Nguyen Van Ven, former Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong Association of War Veterans, also expressed support for General Secretary Trong’s speech, which lays stress on building a strong Party Central Committee, a strong Politburo, and a strong Secretariat of the Party Central Committee that are truly united and unanimous, centre around the leader, and capable of fulfilling the glorious but also heavy task of directing the completion of political duties, promoting the entire Party, army and people’s efforts to surmount every difficulty and hardship, building an increasingly clean and strong Party, boosting the country’s development, and securing prosperity and happiness for the people.
Personnel selection needs to consider candidates’ leadership capacity, specialised knowledge, morality, and commitment to the Party and country’s missions, he opined, pointing out that transparency, justice, and impartiality during the selection are also critical to winning people’s trust and support.
The chosen persons also need to be able to promote reform, innovation, and efficiency in their works, especially amid current challenges and volatility in the world, Ven went on, adding personnel selection should focus on not only the short term but also the long term to ensure the Party and country’s sustainable development./.
