The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is being held solemnly in Hanoi, the nation’s capital and the heart of the country. This is an especially important political event, attracting close attention from officials, Party members and people from all walks of life nationwide. In particular, the opening session of the Congress held on January 20 has drawn strong interest from residents of the capital, who place great expectations on the Party’s new policy decisions in the country’s new stage of development.

Stratfor, a US-based global geopolitical analysis platform, commented that the Congress is expected to approve core political and economic priorities for the next five years, with a particular focus on maintaining a high economic growth rate.

International media have closely followed the 14th National Party Congress, which opened on January 20 in Hanoi.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has underscored the comprehensive and consistent leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially in protecting the people’s interests.

Preparations for the 14th Party Central Committee’s personnel have been conducted in a scientific, rigorous, comprehensive, objective, and transparent manner, promoting democracy and collective wisdom while ensuring a balanced combination of standards and structure, as well as continuity, stability and development.

Dr. Scagliotti stressed that international organisations and investors increasingly view Vietnam as a bright spot in the global growth landscape. With the CPV’s firm, decisive leadership and long-term strategic vision, Vietnam has emerged as a frontrunner in digital transformation and infrastructure development, while also being recognised as a reliable economic partner.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasised that in moving from middle-income to high-income status, Vietnam must rely on science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. These three drivers have been expanded and redefined by the Party under a new approach, creating broader development space and unlocking new resources for growth. With this trio, Vietnam has the potential to achieve double-digit growth.

The 14th National Congress will set major directions for fast and sustainable national development, which will provide an important foundation for the Party organisation and people of Gia Lai to step up efforts with greater determination during the 2025–2030 term.

Looking ahead, Prof. Cui Shoujun from the Institute of International Development Studies at Renmin University of China anticipated that bilateral ties are to deepen further and sustain robust momentum. As global production chains and industries undergo restructuring and relocation, these shifts, in his view, also create additional spaces and new opportunities for economic cooperation.

Dr. Seun Sam, a political science researcher at the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) said the 14th National Party Congress is of special significance as it sets out major orientations for Vietnam’s economic development and foreign policy for the 2026–2031 period, while laying the groundwork for the country’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2045.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta also highlighted the deliberate capitalisation of the word “People” in Congress documents, describing it as a clear expression of the CPV leadership’s view of the "People" as the foundation, driving force and centre of national renewal, construction, and defence.

Luong Quoc Doan, a member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the VFU Central Executive Committee, highlighted the vital contributions of Vietnam’s peasantry throughout the country’s process of nation-building, development and renewal.

The 14th National Party Congress is not only a major political milestone, but also a moment to establish a new mindset of confidence, initiative and a strong aspiration to rise as the nation enters a new era of development.
