Bomb attack in Egypt: Eight Vietnamese recover and could return home

Cairo (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Tran Thanh Cong has affirmed that eight out of12 Vietnamese people who were injured in the recent bomb attack in Cairo have completelyrecovered and could return home.

Cong unveiled the information in an interview granted toEgypt-based correspondents of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The attack occurred at 18:15 on December 28 (local time)aiming at a bus carrying 15 Vietnamesetourists after their trip to a pyramid and being en route to the airport toreturn home.

Three Vietnamesetourists were killed while 12 others were injured, the ambassador said. Amongthe 12 injured, 10 are still receiving treatment at the hospital. The embassyhas received two others for furthercare, Cong said.

The ambassador added that right after the incident, theembassy directly worked with relevant agencies of the host country, includingthe Egyptian Ministers of Tourism and Health to ensure the best emergency carefor the victims.

The embassy staff also came to the site of the bomb attackon the day and visited the victims at the hospital.

The ambassador said he also worked with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to ask for help andoptimal conditions for the Vietnamese people to return home soon while takingcare of those being treated at the hospital and preparing all necessaryconditions to repatriate the bodies of the three dead victims.

Egyptianrelevant agencies said they are quickening the investigation to bring theculprit to the light as soon as possible, according to the diplomat.

Besides the aforesaid group of Vietnamese tourists, othersare visiting Egypt,he said.

He warned them to obey the roadmap of the trip and advisedtravel companies to consider this sensitive time.-VNA

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
