Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli (second, right) visits the Vietnamese victims at the hospital (Photo: AFP/VNA) Cairo (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt has identified three Vietnamese victimswho were killed when a roadside bomb blast hit their tour busnear the world-famous Giza pyramids at 18:15 on December 28 (local time).
The dead victimsincluded Tran Hoa Khanh, born in 1961, from the central province of Thanh Hoa;Nguyen Thuy Quynh, born in 1962, from the capital city of Hanoi; and NguyenTrong Tien, born in 1989, from the south central province of Binh Thuan.
According tothe embassy, there were 15 Vietnamese people andthree Egyptians on the bus at that time. Besides the threeVietnamese victims, one Egyptian guide was also killed.
Right after the incident occurred, Egypt’s authorisedofficials brought the 12 injured persons to El-Haram hospital in Giza province. Doctors conducted surgery for three severelywounded people while the nine others have been treated and well recovered.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Tran ThanhCong visited the wounded victims at the hospital, and worked with localofficials, including Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat and Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed, toseek solutions to the case.
On December 29, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked withthe Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnamto accelerate the deployment of measures to assist the affected Vietnamesepeople and their families.
The ambassador said Egyptian leaders have paid due attention to dealingwith the case. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat and Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed had visited the Vietnamese people who wereundergoing treatment at the hospital.
Egyptian authorities also launched the investigation into the bombattack and pledged to promptly grant visas to relatives of the victims andrepresentatives of relevant travel companies to come to Egypt to helpthe affected people.
The EgyptianEmbassy in Vietnam alsorequested Egyptian airlines to facilitate the travelling of the relatives ofthe victims and proposed the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism arrangeaccommodations for them; make procedures to compensate the victims; and workwith the Vietnamese Embassy in Egyptto properly handle the case.
The Vietnameseside appreciated the Egyptian government and people for their efforts inassisting the victims and thanked the Egyptian Prime Minister, Minister ofTourism and Minister of Health and Population for visiting the injured people.
The sameday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggested the Vietnam Administration ofTourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to directSaigontourist travel company to work with its Egyptian partners in order tohelp the victims, deal with related matters and facilitate the repatriation ofthe victims.
The ministry also instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt tocontinue keeping close watch on the situation and work closely with localauthorised agencies to ensure legitimate rights of the Vietnamesecitizens.
