The 2013 book reading festival took place in Hanoi on April 20 with the attendance of many bookworms.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the focus of this year’s festival is to honour works of young authors and the book exchange programme.
Youngsters can bring their old paper books to exchange for electronic publications or donate them to libraries and pupils in rural and remote areas.
Nguyen Dieu Tam from the Kim Dong primary school said that reading books allows her to access lots of ideas and knowledge while Luong Van Hua, a Hanoian, noted that books are a great teacher with profound knowledge.
The annual event aims to raise people’s awareness of the importance of reading books to educate and form character.-VNA
