Congress chooses 397 for 10th-tenure VFF Central Committee

Hanoi (VNA) – Delegates to the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) chose 397 members for the VFF Central Committee in the 2024-2029 tenure at a working session on October 17 afternoon.

The remaining eight members will be added later.

The total members include 72 in the Presidium and 14 in the standing board.

In the new-tenure Central Committee, there are 51 heads of the front’s member organisations, 63 presidents of the VFF committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, 273 standout individuals, 53 representatives of ethnic minority groups, 53 representatives of religious dignitaries from all the 16 religions and the religious organisations with large numbers of followers recognised by the State, 50 representatives from economic sectors, and 18 representatives of overseas Vietnamese across the five continents.

As many as 327 members hold university degrees and higher.

Later the same day, the VFF Central Committee in the 2024-2029 tenure convened the first meeting.

The closing ceremony of the national congress will take place on October 18, during which the Presidium of the VFF Central Committee for the 2024-2029 tenure will make debut./.
