Hanoi (VNA) – The DGB Financial Group from the Republic of Korea (RoK) will work with the Vietnamese Students' Association in Korea (VSAK) to offer programmes aimed at protecting Vietnamese students from financial fraud.

The group and the VSAK on October 16 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on fraud prevention. Under the MoU, the financial group will develop and offer various financial initiatives to ensure the financial security of Vietnamese students in the RoK. The VSAK will assist with any administrative needs for these initiatives.

This collaboration comes as financial fraud, such as phishing scams, targeting international students in the RoK has become a growing issue.

Since July, the financial group has been working with the VSAK to train four Vietnamese students to lead their financial programmes, which launched in August.

The programs are delievered in Vietnamese by trained instructors and cover topics such as phishing prevention, bank transactions and foreign exchange.

Hwang Byung-woo, CEO of the DGB Financial Group, said the group will actively provide various financial programmes to ensure that Vietnamese students in the RoK, who are eager to learn, can enhance their financial knowledge.

DGB headquartered in Daegu city - the 4th largest city in the RoK owns Daegu Bank - one of the largest regional banks in the country.

In November 2023, the group also signed a business cooperation agreement with FPT Software - a global information technology company under Vietnam's FPT Group. It is the first time DGB has signed an agreement with a foreign company./.
