Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Department of Highways is ready to begin constructions for the border control facilities at the second Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to promote the Special Economic Zone in Mae Sot district, Tak province.
Highway Department Director General Thanin Somboon disclosed that the Highways Department had constructed the 2nd Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to accommodate the increasing cargo volume and support the East-West Economic Corridor.
For the construction of the border control facilities, the Highways Department will approve a construction contract later this year while the construction will be completed by October 2019, he said.
He added that the construction budget of the border control facilities is set at 1.127 billion baht. The building will be separated into two parts including a passenger terminal and a cargo terminal.-VNA
