Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on the chiefs of each and every agency to uphold high sense of responsibility in the fight against corruption.

The Government leader made the call in his capacity as Head of the Central Steering Board on Corruption Control at a meeting on October 13.

He also called for greater efforts to promote the education campaign entitled “Live and work following the example of Ho Chi Minh’s morals” as an effective measure to curb corruption.

Investigations into corruption, as well as the trials of the accused and the punishment of those found guilty, have received special attention from the administration from the central to grassroots levels, to issue a tough warning against any involvement in corruption, Dung emphasised.

As a result, recent inspections unveiled no major cases that might lead to public unrest, he added.

However, he warned that there remains a low-level of transparency in burning issues such as taxes, investment, land and public spending that have aroused public concern.

After reviewing the operations of the board for corruption control, which he characterised as fruitful in the recent past, the Government leader emphasised the need to work closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other social organisations as well as the mass media in the fight against this social ill./.
