The British TNT Theatre will perform a stage production of CharlesDickens’ Oliver Twist in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang city duringits cross-country tour of Vietnam from May 2-13.
The TNTTheatre will give six performances in Ho Chi Minh City on May 2-5, asingle show in the central city of Da Nang on May 9 and conclude theirVietnam tour in Hanoi with three public appearances at themunicipal Opera House.
Known as the first modern novel, the dramaOliver Twist deals with the ties between poverty and crime and reflectsthe cruel treatment of the poor at the time.
Although it waswritten more than 160 years ago, the social issues in the story remaincompatible with present-day circumstances. Its main characters,including Fagin, Bill, Nancy and the Artful Dodger have become as famousas the characters of William Shakespeare.
Last year, the theatre group presented the classic Shakespearian tragedy Macbeth, drawing attention from Vietnamese audiences.-VNA
