The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has asked Vietnamese embassies abroad to lend domestic businesses a helping hand in boosting the export of locally-made products to markets around the world.

The VCCI hosted a talk between 21 newly-appointed Vietnamese ambassadors for the 2009-2012 term and representatives of businesses in Hanoi on January 13.

VCCI chief Vu Tien Loc emphasised the foremost work of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad that is to provide consultancy for the State to help it complete cooperation frameworks and mechanisms with other countries in the world.

Additionally, the agencies should work harder to provide a wider pool of information on foreign markets and partner for Vietnamese businesses so that they can make the right decisions in business.

“The representative agencies should act as ‘bridge’ and ‘a midwife’ for businesses via information channels and trade and investment promotion activities,” local businesses said.

“They should also accompany and protect Vietnamese businesses in their cooperation with foreign partners,” the Chairman of Hai Duong province’s Business Association, Nguyen Huu Doan, underlined.

Tran Trong Toan, new ambassador to the Republic of Korea , pledged that Vietnamese representative agencies abroad would help find ways for Vietnamese goods enter other markets.

“We will assist Vietnamese businesses in line with the law of the country where they are operating,” the ambassador said./.
