Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said the country expects to yield over 1.2 million tonnes of fish by 2019 under its seafood development strategy in 2010-2019.
The water level rise this year will be higher than that of 2015, enabling farmers to increase more 15-20 percent of aquatic farming areas, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said.
Tougher measures will be applied on destructive fishing activities.
Cambodia is among the highest consumers of freshwater fish in the region. Millions of Cambodians get engaged in fishing.
Commercial fish raising is developing strongly in this country, involving nearly 60,000 households.-VNA
