Singapore (VNA) – Singaporean Minister of Manpower Tan See Leng has announced the launch of the Overseas Markets Immersion Programme which enables companies to send their employees overseas to gain experience as part of the government's efforts to build a globally competitive workforce.
Accordingly, firms can receive support for 70% of a deployed employee’s salary and 70% of their overseas allowance for up to nine months. This will be capped at 5,000 SDG (3,700 USD) and 3,000 SDG, respectively.
In a press release on November 15, Workforce Singapore (WSG) under the Ministry of Manpower and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) said in total, companies can receive up to 72,000 SDG for each eligible individual that they send for an overseas posting.
The SBF, which was appointed as the programme’s first partner, will work with participating firms to develop these training plans.
According to the release, the WSG has set aside 16 million SDG for the initial run of the programme.
Dilys Boey, chief executive of the WSG, said the launch of the programme marked a key milestone in WSG’s efforts to build Singapore’s workforce with the experience to operate in complex overseas markets./.
