Cambodia and Laos have agreed on the planting of 121 out of a total 145 markers along their shared land border, a Cambodian senior official has revealed.

Cambodian Senior Minister and Chairman of Cambodia’s Border Committee Var Kim Hong said it was agreed at the sixth meeting of the Joint Border Committee of the two countries.

The meeting took place from February 26-27 in Phnom Penh under the co-chairmanship of Var Kim Hong and Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Bunkuet Sangsomsak.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to form a joint working group to supervise and settle differences on other marker points, said Var Kim Hong.

The two countries will also send working groups to the sites to inspect the land border demarcation to ensure the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting.

The last time the two Committees for Border Affairs of Cambodia and Laos sat together to discuss demarcation issues was in 2003.-VNA
