The Cambodian Ministry of Defence said on January 3 that it will protect the election results of the fifth National Assembly and the Royal Government.

“The Royal armed forces are committed to protecting election results and the royal government led by Prime Minister Hun Sen for the country’s continued renovation in an extensive, intensive and effective manner,” the ministry said in its statement .

With its honour, the Royal armed forces will determine to fulfil the task to maintain national order and security, the Defence Ministry added.

The ministry also appealed to residents, monks and other related sides to avoid any activities and speeches that provoke violence.-VNA
