Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian National Assembly on June 30 adopted the air transport agreement between ASEAN and China.
Sixty-five parliamentarians of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), including Prime Minister Hun Sen, approved the pact.
The initiative came in the context of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party's (CNRP) lawmakers continuing their boycott over a legal action against CNRP’s deputy leader Kem Sokh due to a scandal.
Secretary of State of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) Mao Havannall said the agreement would create several advantages for the country and the whole ASEAN region, as increasing international relations and cooperation in trade, economics, culture, tourism and transport would come through opening international flights between the two sides.
It will also help to increase confidence among airline operators and encourage more private enterprises to invest in air transport infrastructure connectivity between ASEAN and China, he added.-VNA
