Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodia and Russia have reached six agreements, aiming to further bilateral relations.

The agreements were signed in Phnom Penh on November 24 in the witness of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his visiting Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.

Under the signed documents, Cambodia and Russia will bolster links in fields such as information exchange on prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing, investment, press and communications.

Cooperation between the ruling Cambodian People's Party and the All-Russian Political Party “United Russia” was also promoted on the occasion.

Cambodia is a traditional partner of Russia in the Southeast Asian region. The two countries set up diplomatic ties in 1956. Their relationship was re-established in 1979 after the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime was toppled after its five-year domination.

Two-way trade between Cambodia and Russia now hits 48.01 million USD.

Medvedev arrived in Cambodia on November 22 for a three-day State official visit. During his stay, he visited the famed Angkor Wat Temple in the northwestern province of Siem Reap.-VNA
