Cambodia seizes nearly 900 kg of narcotics in Preah Sihanouk

Cambodian authorities have seized 884 kg of narcotics in a single raid in the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk, a provincial military police officer said on December 12.
Hanoi (VNA) - Cambodianauthorities have seized 884 kg of narcotics in a single raid in the coastalprovince of Preah Sihanouk, a provincial military police officer said on December12.

Heng Bunty, Chiefof Preah Sihanouk Provincial Military Police, said the seizure was made duringa raid on a rental warehouse in Sihanoukville on December 11 afternoon after aninvestigation for months, China’s Xinhua News Agency reported.

The police found34 bags of illicit drugs weighing up to 884 kg, he said, adding that this was one of the largest drug seizures in the province.

The SoutheastAsian country nabbed 13,510 drug suspects, including 259 foreigners, during theJanuary-November period of 2022, seizing more than 13.4 tonnes of narcotics,according to the Anti-Drug Police Department./.

The report, based on figures from Malaysia’s Social Security Organisation, showed layoffs peaked in January with around 10,700 cases before easing to 7,500 in February and 5,900 in March. Despite the slowdown toward the end of the quarter, the total remained significantly higher than the roughly 16,500 layoffs recorded in the same period of 2025.
