Cambodian delegation extends New Year greetings to Bac Lieu

A delegation from the Development Department under the Cambodian Defence Ministry led by Deputy Director Lieutenant General Dong Mao on January 16 visited the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu to extend greetings to provincial leaders and locals on the upcoming traditional New Year (Tet) festival.

Bac Lieu(VNA) – A delegation from the Development Department under the CambodianDefence Ministry led by Deputy Director Lieutenant General Dong Mao on January16 visited the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu to extend greetings toprovincial leaders and locals on the upcoming traditional New Year (Tet)festival.

The delegation was welcomedby Vice Standing Chairman of the Bac Lieu People’s Committee Le Minh Chien andrepresentatives from several departments.

He briefed the host onCambodia’s development, with 2017 GDP reaching 6.9 percent and per capitaincome of 1,435 USD per year.

Vietnam and Cambodia,sharing 1,137km of borderline, have enjoyed traditional friendship and closecoordination in all fields, especially security, defence and cultural exchange.

Chien thanked theCambodian officers for the wishes, while congratulating Cambodia onachievements that the country gained in 2017.

He noted that lastyear, Bac Lieu recorded a growth of 6.83 percent, while the living conditionsof locals were significantly improved.

In the coming time, theprovince will focus on developing renewable energy, high tech shrimp farming,tourism, service and high quality education, with an aim to make Bac Lieu astrong locality in the region, said Chien.

He also underlinedthat the province always works hard to promote the special traditional ties betweenVietnam and Cambodia.-VNA
