Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will lead a delegation to a special ministerial meeting between ASEAN and the US scheduled for May 4 in Washington.
It will be the first meeting between foreign ministers of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson since President Donald Trump took office in January, said a statement by the Cambodian Foreign Ministry on April 30.
Participants will reaffirm the common and strong desire of both sides to further strengthen and deepen the ASEAN-US dialogue.
At a summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 2015, ASEAN and the US elevated their relations to a strategic partnership.
During his stay in Washington, Sokhonn will have a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, the statement said.
