Cargo bicycles the “King of Transport” on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield
Bicycles became known as the “King of Transport” and played a crucial role in the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954. The nearly 21,000 bicycles pressed into service enabled Vietnam to achieve its miraculous Dien Bien Phu Victory.
The Temple of Dien Bien Phu Martyrs in the city of Dien Bien Phu boasts unique architecture, with every detail bearing special historical, cultural, and spiritual significance.
Seventy years have passed since the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, a 56-day historic campaign whose victory directly led to the signing of the 1954 Geneva Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Vietnam. The once-young soldiers that took part in the battle are now in their 90s. Though their health may be on the decline, their memories of the epic battle never fade.
Documents and archives regarding the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the Geneva Conference in 1954 are currently well-preserved at the National Archives Centre No 3 in Hanoi.
A thematic exhibition entitled “Victory of Dien Bien Phu - An Eternal Epic” showcases documentaries and artefacts on the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to the public for the first time.
