Central floods kill 28, leave seven missing

Earlier, on Oct. 5, the Prime Ministersent an urgent dispatch to Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri andThua Thien-Hue provinces to ask them to quickly send food and drinks topeople in flooded areas and relief aid to fishing vessels in distressalong with providing medical aid to injured people.

The same day, Hanoi decided to grant 5 billion VND and Ho Chi MinhCity donated 3.5 billion VND to victims in flood-hit provinces.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society provided 820 million VND worth of aid inkind and cash to help residents in three heavily-affected provinces ofQuang Binh, Ha Tinh and Nghe An./.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year. As two of those days fall on the weekend, they would receive two additional compensatory days off, bringing the total holiday to seven consecutive days.
