A total of 400 breeding cows were presented to poor and ethnic households in 21 towns and communes in three districts of the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on January 9.
The districts, including Dak To, Kon Ray and Dak Ha, are the first in the Central Highlands region to benefit from the Thien Tam fund run by Vingroup, under which 5,000 cows will be delivered to local poor families.
Along with providing breeding cows, the fund will allocate manuals to the targeted farmers guiding them how to raise cows and prevent diseases among the cattle.
According to Lu Ngoc Cu, a member of the Steering Board Committee for the Central Highlands , the event is of special significance to the implementation of social welfare and sustainable poverty reduction programmes, contributing to socio-economic development, national defence and security in the region.
He asked Kon Tum province to partner with the committee to carry out the project. Meanwhile, the districts and communes were tasked with inspection work and villages to directly manage the cows.
The remaining livestock is scheduled to be handed over to poor households during the spring-summer crop.-VNA
