Chinese premier meets with DPRK top leaders

The two leaders discussed issues relating to the bilateral relationship and several international issues of common concern.

Earlier, the Chinese Premier, who was on a three-day visit to the DPRK, met with the President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim Yong Nam, and both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral ties.

Premier Wen said that China and the DPRK should speed up cooperation in maintaining security and peace in the region and the world as well. The two countries are facing important tasks of developing their respective economies and improving people’s living standards, he said.

President Kim Yong Nam affirmed that the DPRK will esteem and develop the traditional relationship with China and closely cooperate with Beijing for a better future of bilateral ties.

The Chinese Premier’s visit took place at a time when countries are increasing pressure on DPRK, asking it to return to six-party negotiations on a nuclear-free Korean peninsular./.
