Chinese top leader to pay State visit to Vietnam

 Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping will pay a State-level visit to Vietnam from November 12-13.

Xi’s visit is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on November 6.

Vietnam and China established diplomatic ties on January 18, 1950.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and China hit 71.9 billion USD last year, up 8 percent annually. Of the figure, 21.97 billion USD was Vietnam’s exports, marking a 28.4 percent rise. Trade deficit reached 27.96 billion USD, down 13.67 percent. 

By the end of August this year, trade between the two countries hit 55.2 billion USD, up 23.59 percent over the same period last year, with Vietnam running a deficit of 17.7 billion USD, down 5.76 percent.

China continued to be Vietnam’s top trade partner, while Vietnam was China’s biggest partner in ASEAN and ninth biggest in the world.-VNA
