Ha Thi Khiet, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chair of its Mass Mobilisation Commission, visited and extended Christmas greetings to dignitaries of the Archdiocese of Hanoi on December 21.
Khiet wished a peaceful and happy Christmas to Phero Nguyen Van Nhon, President of the Vietnam Episcopal Council and Archbishop of Hanoi, and all the dignitaries and followers of the diocese, and the country’s Christians.
She said she hopes that the Archbishop and Catholic dignitaries will continue to encourage disciples to be both good followers and citizens.
She congratulated the Vietnam Catholic Church for its first and successful organisation of the Plenary Assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences.
Khiet also visited the General Confederation of the Evangelical Churches of Vietnam (northern region) and extended Christmas greetings to all the Protestant dignitaries and followers.
She expressed her hope that the Executive Board of the general confederation will continue to direct its followers to abide by the law and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
The same day, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) paid a Christmas visit to the Archbishop of Hanoi.
He spoke highly of the response and contributions of followers to campaigns launched by the VFF, expressing his wish for closer cooperation with the Archbishop for stronger and greater unity.-VNA
