Vietnam ’s coastal information station system in coordination with relevant forces and fishing vessels effectively rescued 22 crew and fishermen in distress at sea on May 21.
The coastal information station in Hai Phong city said in the morning it received a request for help from vessel Binh Nguyen 36 with 11 crew members. The ship was adrift 79 nautical miles northeast of the central province of Nghe An due to a damaged engine.
In response to the emergency announcement from the Hai Phong station, the ship Trong Anh 9 went to the distressed boat’s location and towed it to Da Nang on the same day.
In addition, the coastal information station in Da Nang city on May 21 received urgent calls for help from boat DNA 90244 TS. The boat and its crew of 11 were adrift in the waters 118 nautical miles offshore Da Nang City.
The coastal information station system continues to monitor the situation and has requested rescue forces and other vessels in the area to go to the drifting boat’s rescue.-VNA
