Commission proposes discipline against former leaders of HCM City

The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission held the 43rd session in Hanoi from March 2 to 4, during which it proposed that the Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in the 2010-2015 tenure be disciplined for its violations.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Party CentralCommittee’s Inspection Commission held the 43rd session in Hanoi from March 2to 4, during which it proposed that the Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh CityParty Committee in the 2010-2015 tenure be disciplined for its violations.

Chaired by head of the commission Tran Cam Tu,the meeting discussed disciplinary measures against the standing board andrelated individuals, whose violations were concluded at the commission’s 42ndsession.

After considering the violations’ seriousnessand consequences and basing on the Party’s regulations, the InspectionCommission proposed the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariatissue disciplinary measures for the Standing Board of the HCM City PartyCommittee in the 2010-2015 tenure; Le Thanh Hai, former Politburo member andformer Secretary of the municipal Party Committee; and Le Hoang Quan, formermember of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Secretary of the municipalParty Committee, former Secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee of andformer Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

It also asked the Standing Board of the HCM CityParty Committee to discipline the Party Civil Affairs Committee of themunicipal People’s Committee in the 2011-2016 tenure.

The commission decided to reprimand Nguyen ThiHong, former member of the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board, formermember of the Party Civil Affairs Committee of and former Vice Chairwoman ofthe municipal People’s Committee.

Meanwhile, violations committed by Nguyen VanDua, former Standing Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, and VuHung Viet, former member of the municipal Party Committee, former member of theParty Civil Affairs Committee and former Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee deserved reprimand. However, according to the Party’sregulations, the statutory limitation for discipline issuance has already beenover, the Inspection Commission said.

At its 42nd session in January, the commissionconcluded that the Standing Board of the HCM City Party Committee in the2020-2015 tenure and the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the municipalPeople’s Committee in the 2011-2016 tenure violated the principle of democraticcentralism and working regulations, showed lax leadership and a lack ofresponsibility, examination and supervision, which resulted in many seriousviolations and wrongdoings during the implementation of the Thu Thiem New UrbanArea project, causing very serious consequences and big losses in terms ofmoney and assets to the State, negatively affecting socio-economic developmentand the life of a part of local residents, and stirring public concern.

Le Thanh Hai must bear the main responsibilityfor the violations and mistakes of the municipal Party Committee’s StandingBoard. 

Le Hoang Quan must also bear responsibility forthe violations and shortcomings of the municipal Party Committee’s StandingBoard. Besides, he was the main person responsible for the violations andmistakes of the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the municipal People’sCommittee.

The other former officials shared the blame forthe violations and shortcomings of the municipal Party Committee’s StandingBoard and the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the municipal People’sCommittee. They must also accept personal responsibility for the performance oftheir tasks, according to the Inspection Commission.

This commission said the violations by theStanding Board of the HCM City Party Committee in the 2010-2015 tenure, the PartyCivil Affairs Committee of the municipal People’s Committee in the 2011-2016and the abovementioned persons negatively affected the prestige of the city’sParty Committee and administration and stirred public concern so seriously thatdisciplinary measures must be considered.

During its 43rd session, the commission alsoexamined the Party Committee of the Construction Ministry’s Inspectorate. Italso considered disciplinary measures against the Standing Board of the Partycommittee of Kon Tum province’s Border Guard Command, along with some relatedindividuals./.
