Committee for constitution amendment convenes 7th session

The Committee for Drafting Amendments to the 1992 Constitution convened its 7th session in Hanoi on August 10 under the chair of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to further collect opinions to the alternative legal draft.

In his opening speech, Chairman Hungunderlined the committee’s determination to bring the draft revisedconstitution to completion as soon as possible.

He said thatthe committee makes every effort to submit the most perfect draft to theNA for approval at the 13 th National Assembly’s sixth session asplanned in October.

Chairman Hung revealed that the draftrevised constitution has been basically edited and complemented in allchapters, articles and contents. At present, there are only two bigissues that are required to be further discussed, including theorganisation of government apparatus and the Constitutional Council.

The NA Chairman said it is necessary to organise seminars tofurther collect intensive opinions from legal experts to the draft.

He asked the committee’s members to continue to contribute theiropinions and study opinions of NA members at the 5 th session in orderto complete the draft.-VNA

Sharing Vietnam’s achievements, Thanh noted that women account for nearly one-third of Vietnam’s National Assembly members; 40% of Vietnam’s STEM workforce is female; 26.5% of businesses in the country are owned by women; women account for 68.5% of the country’s labour force, surpassing the global average of 48.7% and 14.4% of Vietnam’s peacekeepers are women, higher than the UN average of 10.2%.
