A Summer Melody concert will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on June 13.

The performance will star conductor Nguyen Thieu Hoa, singers Thang Long (soprano), Tran Trang (mezzo soprano) and Manh Dung (baritone), and dancers from the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.

The programme includes Mendelssohn's MidSummer Night's Dream overture, Puccini's O mio babbino caro, Mozart's Figaro's Wedding and Tchaikovsky's Pas de deux from the Nutcraker ballet.

The artists will perform a contemporary version of the ballet Heart of Silk, with music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach and choreography by Pontus Linberg.

As a foreigner travelling to the old city of Hoi An, young talented choreographer Lidberg was struck by the silk lanterns in the ancient streets, which inspired him to develop the piece.

Hoi An, located in the central coastal province of Quang Nam, is an old trading port that dates back to the 15th century.

Its architecture and layout reflect the indigenous and foreign influences that melted together to produce the unique character of the town.-VNA
