Hanoi (VNA) – More condolences from leaders as well as agencies and organisations of foreign countries continue to pour in over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang.

The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, the National Assembly and the Government of Laos, and the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee on September 21 sent a message of sympathy to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

The message expressed deep grief at the death of the Vietnamese President, and emphasized the President’s significant contributions to developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive between Vietnam and Laos.

Not only the Vietnamese Party, State and people have lost a beloved leader, but the Party, State and people of Laos also have lost a close friend, the message wrote.

The same day, Nay Pena, Acting President of the Senate of Cambodia, cabled a message to NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, expressing his deepest sympathy to the President’s family, and the Vietnamese legislature, Government and people.

President Quang is a good friend of Cambodian people, and his historic achievements and model example will be everlasting, he said.

President of Cuba’s Council of State and Council of Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez wrote in his letter of condolence dated September 21 to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc that he was deeply saddened by the death of President Quang – a faithful friend of Cuba’s revolution.

The same day, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee Raul Castro Ruz, extended his condolences to General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

Both Cuban leaders recalled the late President’s contributions to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Also on September 21, China’s Vice President Wang Qishan extended his sympathy to his Vietnamese counterpart Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China also expressed his sympathy to NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a letter of condolence to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh over President Quang’s death.

In their messages, the Chinese officials said President Quang is an outstanding leader of the Party and State of Vietnam, and a close comrade and friend of China.

They stressed that the late President had significantly contributed to developing the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and expressed their belief that under the strong leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Government, the Vietnamese people will turn the grief into strength and constantly make new achievements in the cause of socialist construction.

President Tran Dai Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi at the age of 62 due to serious illness.

He was elected State President of Vietnam at the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly on April 2, 2016.-VNA.
