Hanoi (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee has sent congratulations to the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Central Committee on the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ joint triumph over the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979).
The message reads that: “40 years ago, under the clear-sighted and steadfast leadership of the CPP and the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation and with the wholehearted, timely and effective support of friends from near and far, the Cambodian people heroically rose up to topple the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime on January 7, 1979, ending the darkest period in the history of Cambodia and heralding a new period of independence, freedom, neutrality, democracy, social progress and development.
“The Vietnamese Party, State and people pledge to exert utmost efforts to join the CPP, the State and people of Cambodia in forever maintaining and nurturing the development of the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, long-term and sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia for the prosperity of each country’s people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,” the CPV Central Committee affirms in the message. –VNA
