Contest focuses on Hanoi world heritage sites

A competition on the discovery of world heritage sites and traditions has been launched here to give competitors an opportunity to show off their knowledge about the capital city's legacy.
A competition on the discovery of world heritage sites and traditionshas been launched here to give competitors an opportunity to show offtheir knowledge about the capital city's legacy.

The contestants may also propose solutions for the conservation and development of these sites and traditions.

Thecompetition carries the theme "Discover World Heritage Sites in Hanoi,The City for Peace" and aims to preserve and further promote thehistorical and cultural values of these sites and traditions.

Entriesmay be sent to the Hanoi Cultural Fund under the Hanoi Department ofCulture, Sports and Tourism in various forms such as written texts,reports, short films and graphic products. Written and graphic entriesmay also be sent by email to disanvanhoahanoi@gmail.com.

Entries must be in by December 15. Results will be announced on December 26.

Thecapital city has four UNESCO cultural heritage sites and traditions,including the central sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, exactly 82stone stele records of doctoral laureates in the Temple of Literature,the Giong Saint Festival in Soc Temple, and ca tru (ceremonial singing).

Thecompetition is one of the activities commemorating the capital city's15th year as the UNESCO-recognised City for Peace, as well as the 10thanniversary of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23.-VNA

The relics will be open for public worship and veneration at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda from 6 am to 9 pm from May 14-16. They will then be transferred to Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam from May 17-21, before being returned to India.
