Cuban, Vietnamese businesses boost cooperation

A conference on trade, investment and exchange between Cuban andVietnamese businesses was held in Havana on Nov. 4 under the frameworkof the 29th Havana International Fair (FIHAV).

The event, organisedby the Thai Binh Investment Trading Corporation and the Vietnameseembassy, aimed to introduce trade potential and promote economic andinvestment cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Speaking at theevent, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Chi Cong said that despite the USembargo against Cuba and the geographical distance between the twocountries, Vietnam has maintained and developed the multifacetedrelationship with Cuba, making it Cuba's second biggest trade partner inAsia.

Ambassador Cong said the conference offered an opportunity forthe two countries’ businesses to devise measures and action plans topromote bilateral trade exchange and business cooperation.

Directorof the Cuban Centre for Promoting Foreign Trade and Investment (CEPEC)Raisa Costa Blanco said Cuban businesses are gradually improvingthemselves and widening cooperation with foreign counterparts, in aneffort to contribute more to national economic development.

She alsointroduced fields to call for investment in her country such as tourism,oil and gas, mineral exploration and renewable energy.

Blanco affirmed that the Cuban market always opens the door to foreign businesses, including those from Vietnam./.
