Czech Senate President wraps up Vietnam visit

HCM City (VNA) - President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milan Stech left Ho Chi Minh City on November 20, concluding his six-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

During his stay, President Milan Stech held talks with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, paid a courtesy visit to President Truong Tan Sang and met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

He visited historical, cultural and tourist sites in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Ho Chi Minh City.

He also laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs and paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in the capital city.

At the talks and meetings, the two sides agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and mutual support at bilateral and multilateral forums. They also vowed close collaboration in realising the Hanoi Declaration of the 132 nd Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly and sustainable development goals.

Both sides consented to fostering comprehensive cooperation and creating favourable conditions for their businesses to increase partnerships, while expanding affiliations in tourism, education, culture and people-to-people exchange.

During the visit, the Czech Senate President and his entourage attended a ceremony to mark the 97th National Day of the Czech Republic (October 28, 1918) and a concert performed by Czech artists to herald the 65th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Czech diplomatic ties in Ho Chi Minh City.

Before leaving Ho Chi Minh City, he visited Ton Duc Thang University and attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Bata Centre of the Czech Republic’s Tomas Bata University here.-VNA
