Prague (VNA) – Three volumes of the Czech-Vietnamese dictionary, considered a bilingual encyclopaedia, won the second prize of the Dictionary of the Year award by the Union of Interpreters and Translators of Czech Republic on May 13.

Co-authored by Ivo Vasiljev and Nguyen Quyet Tien, the dictionary comprises six volumes targeting Vietnamese expatriates and Czech people who want to learn Vietnamese. Three of which have been completed.

It covers a wide range of spheres, including socio-culture, history, geography and biography. The first volume was launched in November 2013 with 10,100 words, the second debuted in November 2014 with 9,200 words and the third in November 2015 with 19,200 words.

The annual award has a history of 23 years, aiming to honour dictionaries of academic and practical value.

The board of judges is represented by prestigious professionals in linguistic and translation fields.

The award ceremony was held at the Book World Prague, an international book fair and literary festival.-VNA

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Four more provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Vietnam accelerates repatriation of citizens detained in Myanmar
