Da Nang gets help in urban transport planning

The Temasek Foundation of Singapore and the World Bank (WB) will fund a programme on enhancing traffic management capacity and transport planning for the central city of Da Nang .

The Temasek Foundation of Singapore and the World Bank (WB) will fund a programme on enhancing traffic management capacity and transport planning for the central city of Da Nang .

An agreement to this effect was signed in Da Nang on July 26 between the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), a representative of Temasek.

Through the programme, Singapore desires to share its experience in management and urban transport planning and help the Vietnamese central city develop a modern and sustainable urban transport system.

Accordingly, Temasek will provide 915,158 SGD (roughly 15.47 billion VND) while Da Nang city will contribute 239,080 SGD (4.04 billion VND).

The programme will be divided into two components, one of which, to take place from September, 2011 to June, 2012, will focus on urban transport planning for Da Nang .

In the second component, to be implemented between now and December this year, the Singaporean group and the Da Nang People’s Committee will work together to organise six training courses on the planning and management of urban transport for members of relevant departments, branches and agencies of Da Nang. /.
