Da Nang launches summer tourism programme

The Tourism Department of the central city of Da Nang officially launched the programme “Da Nang - Summer Destination 2017” on June 17.

Da Nang (VNA) – The Tourism Department of thecentral city of Da Nang officially launched the programme “Da Nang - SummerDestination 2017” on June 17.

The annual tourismevent aims to establish Da Nang’s reputation as a distinguished coastaldestination, including a series of arts, sports and tourism activities forlocal people and tourists in summer 2017.

It is hoped toeffectively boost the process of refining and promoting Da Nang’s coastaltourism products, as well as developing Da Nang into a venue of events.

Several activities willbe held within the programme, such as concert performances at HolidayBeach Hotel, Lang Ong area and My Khe beach on June 17-18.

Son Tra PeninsulaCycling Tournament and Son Tra Adventure Run will start on June 25and 18, respectively. Through these races, the organizers wish to plead withboth Da Nang residents and visitors to protect and preserve the environmentwhile promote ecotourism in Son Tra Peninsula.

A cooking contest “BestDishes of Da Nang” – Meeting with Master Chef Pham Tuan Hai is scheduledfor June 22, aiming to preserve, reinforce and promote Da Nang cuisine for itsrich history, indispensable roles and uplifting values close to the hearts ofthe city local people.

Paragliding contest “Glidingover Tien Sa 2017” with participation of 50 members from teams like VietWings,Hanoi Paragliding will be held from June 23-25. It will also be joined by 20freelancer paragliders from all over the country.

The Seaside Festival,which seeks to depict a wide range of fishermen’s daily activities, is beingheld on June 17 and 18.

On June 17, a bikini flash mob under the theme “Well-dressed for a swim in the sea” tookplace with over 150 professional models.

Moreover, various showsand activities are held simultaneously at the central ground of the event. Souvenirsstalls and tourist shops were set up along with kite-flying art show and basketboats arrangement, among others.

The programme runsuntil June 23 with major activities taking place at Bien Dong Park and Pham Van DongBeach.-VNA

Air travel surges to 1.68 million passengers during holiday periods

Domestic air travel accounted for 675,140 passengers and 3,400 tonnes of cargo, marking declines of 7.5% and 11.6%, respectively. In contrast, international transport showed robust growth, surpassing 1 million passengers and reaching 24,050 tonnes of cargo, up 10% in passenger numbers and 10.6% in cargo volume.

Vietnam records 2 million foreign arrivals in April

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) said the figures highlight the country’s rising profile as a safe, stable and increasingly compelling destination. It is the first time Vietnam has surpassed 2 million foreign arrivals for four straight months, and the first time the January – April tally has reached 8.8 million.

Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang lead Thai tourists’ searches

Data from the online booking platform Agoda shows that Ho Chi Minh City recorded the highest growth in searches from Thailand, reaching 134%, followed by Da Nang with a 58% increase. Other destinations such as Hong Kong (China) saw more modest growth.
