Da Nang (VNA) – The central cityof Da Nang aims to promote the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF)to foreign friends and the city’s image as a leading destination of festivalsand events in Asia, a municipal official said at a press conference on March 7.

According to Director of the Da NangDepartment of Culture and Sports Huynh Van Hung, the festival, themed “TheLegend of Bridges”, will kick off on April 30 and end on June 30 with theparticipation of Vietnam and seven foreign teams. It is hoped to attractadditional thousands of visitors to the city.

Fireworks shows of the host and Poland willtake place on the Han River on April 30, while those of France and the US are scheduledfor May 26, Italy and China’s Hong Kong on June 2, and Sweden and Portugal onJune 9.

The two most excellent teams will display theirfireworks to entertain the audience on June 30. All firework performances willbe broadcast live.

A string of activities are expected to beorganised on the sidelines of the fireworks competition, including a foodfestival, a flash mob dance performance for students, and a street carnivalshow.

Held for the first time in 2008, the event,formerly known as the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, has emergedas an important cultural and tourism event, contributing to cultural exchangesand wooing many foreign tourists to Da Nang and Vietnam.

From 2017, the annual event has become atwo-month festival in order to lure more visitors to the city.

Da Nang welcomed 6.6 million visitors lastyear, an increase of 19 percent against the previous year.-VNA

Hanoi puts 28 more electric buses into operation

The new VinFast Green Bus vehicles, manufactured in 2026, have a capacity of 60 passengers. They are equipped with low floors for easier boarding, facilities for people with disabilities, air conditioning and other modern amenities to improve passengers’ comfort and travel experience.

500-day campaign brings fallen soldiers closer to home

Information provided by local residents in Son La province helped authorities find the remains of two fallen soldiers after four days of searching. At Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, 701 sets of remains and 304 sets of personal items have been recovered, while in Ca Mau province, more than 3,000 unidentified graves have been excavated and biological samples collected.

The gold medalists were Nguyen Tuan Kiet from Nguyen Hue High School for Gifted Students; Le Gia Hong Minh from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; Le Ba Tuan Viet from the High School for Gifted Students under the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Le Quang Tri from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City; and Nguyen Quang Dung and Mai Van Khanh from Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa province.
