Dak Lak moves to supply rural areas with clean water

As many as 81 percent of people living in rural areas of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have used clean water so far this year, a rise of nearly 18 percent from the same period in 2008.

The achievement was attributed tothe building of seven new large-scale water supply facilities and 14small-scale water supply works in the province’s four poor districts ofLak, Krong Bong, M’Drak, Buon Don and other far-flung and ethnicminority-inhabited areas in the year.

The new facilities, costingover 25.7 billion VND, increased the number of water supply works inthe locality’s rural areas to 252,672, including 97 large-scalefacilities.

Over the past years, Dak Lak has mobilised capitalfrom various resources for the building of water supply facilities.Since 2009, it has rallied more than 339.1 billion VND for theprogramme.

The use of clean water has helped ethnic minoritypeople inhabiting in rural areas reduce the risks of unhygienicwater-caused diseases.-VNA

Quang Ngai to remove hundreds of unregistered fishing vessels

To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). The provincial licensing rate for fishing activities has reached 81.94%, while 99% of local vessels required to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) have complied.

A total of 351 communes free of temporary, dilapidated houses

From February 21-28, 7,540 temporary and dilapidated houses were renovated or replaced nationwide, bringing the total number of facilities improved under humanitarian policy to 115,481. Of these, 62,737 houses were inaugurated, while construction began on another 52,744.
