Defence Minister to attend ASEAN defence ministers’ meetings in Singapore

Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich will lead the Vietnamese delegation to take part in the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM) and 5th ADMM-Plus in Singapore from October 18 to 20.

Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Defence Ngo XuanLich will lead the Vietnamese delegation to take part in the 12th ASEANDefence Ministers Meeting (ADMM) and 5th ADMM-Plus in Singapore fromOctober 18 to 20.

The attendance is made at the invitation of Singaporean Ministerfor Defence Ng Eng Hen.

The minister’s participation at the ASEAN events reflectsVietnam’s responsible and active engagement in cooperation within the frameworkof the ADMM and ADMM-Plus.

ADMM is the highest defence cooperation and consultationmechanism of ASEAN, aiming to foster mutual trust among member countriesthrough sharing perspectives on defence and security challenges, while improvingthe transparency and openness among the ten ASEAN countries.

Meanwhile, the ADMM Plus provides a platform for ASEANdefence chiefs to hold dialogue with partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprisesIndonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Viet Nam, Laos,Myanmar, and Cambodia.-VNA
