– Defence cooperation is animportance pillar in Vietnam-Laos relations, stated Luong Cuong, head of theGeneral Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.

He made the remark while visiting the LaosEmbassy in Hanoi on July 17.

The two armies’ fine connection wouldconsolidate mutual trust and comprehensive partnership between the twocountries’ Parties, governments and people, he added.

Speaking highly of the thriving bilateral ties inall fields, Cuong stressed the significant meaning of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarityand Friendship Year 2017, the 55th diplomatic relations anniversary (September5) and 44 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation(July 18).

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihanehighlighted Laos’ commitment to deepening the special friendship with Vietnam,adding that this year offers a chance for the two countries’ people,particularly younger generations, to learn more about the bilateral engagementsover times.

He thanked the assistance the Vietnam People’sArmy has provided for its Lao counterpart in the past struggle for nationalliberation as well as the current development.

He said he wants to work closer with the VietnameseDefence Ministry to contribute to enhanceing bilateral relations.-VNA
