Floods in the Cuu Long ( Mekong ) Delta have so far killed 29 people, according to the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control.
In Dong Thap, nine people lost their lives; in Can Tho City, six; while in An Giang and Kien Giang there were five deaths in each province.
Flood water inundated more than 59,960 houses and caused mudslides along 5,500m of highway.
Meanwhile, floods in the central province of Ninh Thuan have killed four people. Flood water inundated 107 houses, 1,100ha of paddy fields and 331ha of agricultural land in Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Dak Nong provinces.
The HCM City authorities on Oct. 11 made 6.7 billion VND (U325,340 USD) available to cities and provinces that had suffered the heaviest losses.
Also on the day , 21 organisations in HCM City raised 5.1 billion VND (247,570 USD) to help flood-hit residents.
Nearly 3,285 families in the flood-prone Dong Thap and An Giang provinces have received aid from Save the Children this week.
The charity organisation provided food and learning devices for students, as well as other necessary items. Boats have also been given to schools for students to travel back and forth to school each day.
The total support of 3.8 billion VND (182,692 USD) also included money to repair houses damaged by the floods./.
