A training programme for staff members of six wastewater treatment and clean water supply projects in Vietnam was launched by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)’s Business Finance (DBF) programme at a workshop in Hanoi on September 8.
Funded by DBF, the wastewater treatment projects are being implemented in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, the central province of Quang Binh, the northern mountainous provinces of Cao Bang and Ha Giang and the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang while the clean water supply project is being carried out in the central province of Thanh Hoa.
Addressing the workshop, Danish Commercial Counsellor in Vietnam Bo Monsted said DBF has offered financial and technical assistance and experience to many projects in Vietnam, helping Vietnam resolve issues related to infrastructure development and address increasing water resources pollution, thus building green urban areas.
He underlined the importance of the training programme, saying it will help improve the quality of human resources serving the six projects’ management and operation.
Since 2014, DBF has provided Vietnam with 120 million USD, contributing to promoting sustainable economic development, improving living conditions for local residents, preventing floods and reducing environmental pollution.
At the workshop, participants reviewed and assessed the projects’ implementation and activities with the intent to improve the capacity of workers and managers in the water sector.
In the framework of the programme, lecturers, training experts and coordinators from the projects will work together to build syllabuses with emphasis placed on combined study methods.-VNA
