The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Can Tho City’s People’s Committee on Dec. 30 signed a memorandum of understanding in the city to promote and provide energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to bring water to rural areas in the Mekong Delta.
Under the MOU, Denmark will provide a grant of 4 million DKK (715,960 USD) to develop the Project of Renewable Energy Supply for the Mekong Delta from 2012 to 2014.
The project aims to enhance knowledge and use of solar and wind-powered water supply systems for the benefit of the environment and the economy of the region.

Visiting Danish Crown Prince Frederik on Nov. 30 inaugurated a representative office of the Danish based Novo Nordish A/S, which provides healthcare service for diabetic patients, in HCM City .
The Novo Nordish representative office has received a license from the city’s Department of Industry and Trade.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said the opening of the representative office emphasised the commitment of Novo Nordish in offering a professional healthcare service for diabetes in Vietnam .
“The global prevalence of diabetes will more than double in the coming two decades to 500 million people. We will see the same trend in Vietnam where today an estimated 1.6 million people have diabetes,” said Jesper Hoiland, senior vice president, international operations, of Novo Nordish A/S.
Novo Nordish, a global healthcare company, employs about 31,400 employees in 74 countries and markets its products in 179 countries./.
