Deputy PM delivers Chol Chnam Thmay greetings in Vinh Long, Tra Vinh

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has extended best wishes to Khmer Theravada Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the Mekong Delta provinces of Vinh Long and Tra Vinh on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay, the traditional New Year Festival of the Khmer people in the south.

Vinh Long (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has extended best wishes to Khmer Theravada Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the Mekong Delta provinces of Vinh Long and Tra Vinh on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay, the traditional New Year Festival of the Khmer people in the south.

During the visits on April 7, he spoke highly of the Khmer monks and followers for their significant contributions to the local socio-economic development as well as social security and order.

He called on all Khmer Buddhist followers to promote solidarity, strictly implement the Party’s policies and the Government’s regulations, while engaging in the national patriotic emulation, building new-style rural areas, and enhancing traditional culture.

Also, he asked local authorities to pay more attention to the Khmer households in the underprivileged areas, ensuring that they all have warm festival and no one is left behind.

Delivering greetings at the ethnic minority boarding school in Vinh Long, which houses Khmer students in Tam Binh, Vung Liem, Binh Minh and Tra On districts, and Tra Vinh University,  Deputy PM Binh stressed the Party and Government always pay due attention to providing education for minority ethnic groups.

He took the occasion to request competent authorities to continue sound policies for ethnic people, and join hands to further support for the education and training for local ethnic people.-VNA
